Coryn Katz Physiotherapy

Coryn Katz’s physiotherapy career was established at the young age of 11 years old during frequent visits to the physiotherapist for tennis injuries! She graduated from Tulane University (USA) in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pre-Med, double majoring in Cell and Molecular Biology and Psychology while on a tennis scholarship. Coryn was named to the “Who's Who among Students in Universities and Colleges in America” after topping the Dean's List and graduating Magna Cum Laude.

She returned to South Africa to attend The University of Cape Town and completed her Bachelor of Science Physiotherapy Degree in 2002. She went on to complete her community service year at Red Cross Children's Hospital in 2003.

Coryn has completed advanced dry needling courses, as well as a kinesiology taping course. She has a special interest in helping people who suffer from both chronic and acute pain. This led her to complete a Post-graduate Diploma in Pain Management through The University of Cape Town in 2021, in which she graduated with distinction under the guidance of Professor Romy Parker. Completing the advanced neuromuscular skeletal (ANMS) course in 2022 through Wits University will provide her with the clinical reasoning to effectively assess and treat both complex acute and chronic neuro-musculoskeletal conditions.

Aquatic physiotherapy, which is her passion, lead her to complete aquatic foundation, neurology and orthopaedic courses in 2013. She is one of a handful of qualified Watsu practitioners in South Africa, having had the privilege of being taught by America's aquatic therapy guru, Peggy Schoedinger. She is also accomplished in techniques taught by Britain's Dr Heather Epps. She completed post-graduate aquatic studies in Switzerland in 2014 under the guidance of the pioneers of aquatic physiotherapy techniques, and world leaders in the field, Johan Lambeck and Urs Gamper. She previously worked as an aquatic physiotherapist at Vincent Pallotti Hospital in Pinelands, Cape Town.

Coryn has designed and built a unique aquatic physiotherapy centre with each and every client in mind. Her aim is to facilitate able-bodied and disabled clients to function optimally, and to improve their quality of life. All facilities are wheelchair-friendly, and an electric hoist allows for entry into the pool of the most severely disabled client.

Coryn has a passion for rehabilitation and for returning clients to an optimal level of functioning. This passion has been fuelled by her love for sports including tennis, marathon running and Ironman triathlons. She also loves sewing and cooking. She is a committed wife and a devoted mother to four beautiful children.

Anine Nieman

Anine's passion for physiotherapy comes from her passion for people. She graduated from the University of the Free State in 2015 with a B.Sc Physiotherapy degree. She completed her community service year at Shongwe Hospital in Mpumalanga in 2016 and then returned home to Bloemfontein to work there for a year.

Anine's search for a better way to help people heal led her to CK Physiotherapy and Aquatherapy. The move to Cape Town with her husband was therefore a very easy choice. Her love of water made the decision even easier.

Anine has completed all 3 levels of Watsu with the aquatic therapy guru, Peggy Schoedinger. She has also completed courses in dry needling, taping techniques, a multimodal approach to treating pain, and is in the process of doing an online course surrounding chronic pain.

Working with patients and seeing the immense improvement in their quality of life has helped Anine's love for Aquatherapy grow and grow.

She now enjoys life with her husband and their Scottie dog going to the beach, and spending time hiking the lovely trails Cape Town has to offer.

Margaret Williamson

While I was growing up, I spent a lot of time outdoors, camping and playing sport. My body was always moving, and I began to appreciate how interesting the human body was. After school, I took a gap year doing community Service where I became interested in community health and empowerment.

I studied Physiotherapy in Bloemfontein, followed by an invaluable year working at Victoria Hospital with a focus on neurological conditions and joint pathologies. My passion for physiotherapy has only grown with my desire to serve people. In 2019, I began working with patients in the pool and loved it! I have worked in the pool ever since. The heated pool is a good starting point after lost confidence, physical difficulties, chronic pain or if you just love water! Our focus is on long term health.

I am committed to reviving the joy that comes from movement. I love to cycle, hike and do Crossfit. Rehabilitating my own injuries have given me a greater appreciation for the balance between athletic performance and body awareness.

At the practice, I offer individual sessions, aqua classes and land based physiotherapy.
